One of Florida Southern’s seven returning All-Americans after winning three of those awards as a sophomore (one individual and two relay)… School record holder in the 200-freestyle relay… Has two individual wins two relay wins in his career.
As a sophomore (2016-17)… First Team All-American in the 200-freestyle relay (3rd place), and 800-freestyle relay (7th place)… Honorable Mention All-American in the 200-freestyle (11th place)… NCAA Division II Academic Achievement Award winner… Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Part of the Moccasins’ school-record 200-freestyle relay team which set that mark of 1:19.77 at the Division II National Finals… In addition to his All-American events at the National Finals, also competed in the 50-freestyle and the 400-freestyle relay… One of eight Moccasins to swim in all nine meets, including the NCAA Division II National Championships, and was one of their primary sprinters… Also swam the 100-butterfly on two occasions… Helped the Moccasins reach the finals of the 400-freestyle relay with a fourth-place finish in prelims, as the Mocs posted their best time of the season up to that point, but did not compete in the finals event where they placed third… Had NCAA provisional qualifying times in the 50-, 100- and 200-freestyle… SSC silver medalist in the 200-freestyle… Helped Florida Southern medal in four relays at the SSC Championships (silver in the 200-free, 800-free and 200-medley, bronze in the 400-free)… Had one individual win, taking the 100-freestyle vs. Indian River State in the final meet of the regular season… Fourth on the Florida Southern times list in the 50- and 100-free, and was second in the 200-free… Part of the Mocs’ top times in the 200- and 800-freestyle relays.
As a freshman (2015-16)… Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Took part in six meets during the season… Normally competed in the 50-, 100-, and 200-freestyle… Posted NCAA provisional qualifying times in all three of those events and helped four different relay teams reach provisional times too… Had one individual win and two relays wins… Picked up his first career victory when he won the 100-freestyle against Indian River State in the final meet of the regular season… Had already earned relay wins in two meets prior to that, one of them in the 800-freestyle relay at the Tampa Spartan Invitational… Finished the year #2 on the Florida Southern times list in the 200-freestyle.
In high school… 2015 graduate of The Broxbourne School in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire but holds dual nationality in England and Jamaica… Competed for Great Britain at the 2013 European Youth Olympic Festival in the Netherlands and is also a member of the Jamaican National Team… Also took part in the 2014 FINA World Swimming Championships (short course) with Jamaica… Holds the senior national records for Jamaica in the 200-meter freestyle in both the short course (25-meter) and long course (50-meter)… Also holds the long course record in the 100-meter butterfly, and 200-meter individual medley… Posted the fastest time in the 200-freestyle for a Jamaican this year (2015) with a silver medal in the 2015 CARIFTA (Caribbean Free Trade Association) championships in Barbados… Served as anchor for Jamaica’s CARIFTA 800-freestyle relay teams that won gold medals in 2014 and 2015… Also competes for the Hatfield Swimming Club… Personal… Son of Fleur Hughes and Jefrey Campbell… Has one older brother (Josh), two younger brothers (Ben and Jacob) and a younger sister (Charlotte)… Future plans are to make the Jamaica Olympic/Commonwealth team on a senior level.
