WINTER PARK, Fla. – Three Florida Southern College men's tennis pairings are set for flight finals as the Moccasins competed in doubles action on Friday afternoon at the Varner Memorial Invitational at the John Tiedtke Courts. The pairings of Valentin Hertweck and Pablo Salamanca, Brandon Pham and Brian Pham, as well as Danny Thomas and Miroslav Cvjetan, will all play in flight finals, with the latter two facing each other. The Mocs will now turn to singles action all-day on Saturday
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Doubles flight A saw Hertweck and Salamanca take down Santamaria and Binaghi of Palm Beach Atlantic, 8-2, and advance 8-5 past Penzhofer and Laka from Stetson to earn a spot in the flight A final. Oscar Sohl and Erik Nordblom fell 8-4 to Danielson and Baumann from Rollins and 8-7 to Gezer and Brignacca of Rollins.
- In doubles flight B, Thomas and Cvjetan advanced to the finals after a bye in round one and an 8-1 thrashing of Valloso and Precikowski of Palm Beach Atlantic in the semifinal round. The Pham twins also had a bye in the first round and defeated Webb and Stone of Eckerd, 8-5, in the semifinal to advance to the all-FSC final.
- The Moccasins will continue competition at the Varner Memorial Invitational with singles action tomorrow.
