TALLAHASSEE – Freshman Dean McGregor and senior Jose Perez finished 11th and 13th, respectively, to lead Florida Southern to a second place finish among 12 non-Division I schools at the FSU Invitational here Friday at the Apalachee Regional Park.
The second-place finish snaps a streak of back-to-back Invitational titles for the Moccasins who the meet in 2013 and 2014.
McGregor led the Moccasins for a second time this season, finishing the 8K course with a time of 26:09.2 to take 11th place out of the 136 non-Division I runners at the meet. Perez, who won the FSC Invitational a week ago, posted his fifth best time of his Moccasin career with a 26:16.2 finish to take 13th place.
Alabama-Huntsville won the meet with 50 points followed by Florida Southern (62 pts), and West Florida (62 pts.). UAH's was the top men's counter with a 25:42.3 to take individual honors.
Florida Southern will take a week off and then return to action Oct. 16 at the USF Invitational at The Claw, the university's golf course.
