LIMA, Peru - Florida Southern College standout water skier Valentina Gonzalez continued her incredible summer by capturing a bronze medal at the 2019 Pan American Games on Monday in Lima. Gonzalez, competing for Chile, set a national record with her jump of 159 feet in the preliminary round and used a 157-foot jump in the second round of the finals to secure third place on Monday.
She nearly tied for silver, finishing just one foot shy of second place. This is the second time that Gonzalez has been on the podium on the world stage this year after winning the jump competition at the IWWF World U21 Water Ski Championships in Edmonton, Alberta at the beginning of July. This past year at Florida Southern, Gonzale finished second in the trick competition at the NCWSA National Championships and was also in the top five in the jump competition.
