  • Women's Basketball Picks Up 10th Win with Victory over Palm Beach Atlantic

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's basketball team led from wire to wire, defeating the visiting Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish, 79-37, in Sunshine State Conference action on Saturday evening. Southern advances to 10-7 on the season, including a 7-2 mark in the Sunshine State Conference, and at least a tie for second place. PBA falls to 2-14, and 0-9 in the SSC.
  • Jenike, Steele Score Double Digits as Florida Southern Women's Basketball Falls at Eckerd, 68-56

    Junior forward Julia Jenike scored eleven points in the first quarter for the Florida Southern College women’s basketball team, but it was not enough, as host Eckerd College defeated the Mocs, 68-56, in Sunshine State Conference action on Wednesday night. Jenike added six rebounds, while sophomore Mackenzie Steele added 14 points and three rebounds in the losing effort. FSC is now 9-7 overall, and 6-2 in the Sunshine State Conference, while Eckerd improves to 10-4, and 6-2 in the SSC.
  • Women's Basketball Squeaks out a Victory at Rollins

    WINTER PARK, Fla. – Three Moccasins recorded double-digit points as the Florida Southern College women’s basketball team extended its win streak to three. The Mocs (9-6, 6-1 SSC) Were slow to find a grove before holding on to pick up a 60-56 victory at Rollins (9-5, 2-4 SSC).  Junior forward Julia Jenike led the Mocs with 13 points while sophomores Ashley Shell and Mackenzie Steele each totaled 12 points in the win.

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Junior forward Julia Jenike scored a career-high 32 points as the Florida Southern College women's basketball team defeated visiting Nova Southeastern in dramatic fashion, 76-69 in overtime, on Saturday night in Sunshine State Conference action. Sophomore Ashley Shell added 13 points and ten rebounds in the winning effort. With the score tied in overtime, Jenike connected on back-to-back three pointers to put the game away for good. The Moccasins (8-6, 5-1 SSC) have now won two straight games, and three of their last four. NSU (6-6, 2-3 SSC) has now dropped two consecutive overtime games.

Host MWSU will face McKendree University in Game Two of the two-day classic later tonight. Florida Southern will face MWSU tomorrow, at 4:30 p.m., in the Classic’s final game.

The 90 percent mark is tied for the highest mark that the department has ever earned, with the previous record set during the 2010 six-year cohort.
