LAKELAND, FL - Florida Southern College women's lacrosse will open it's 2018 season on the road when it heads to Catawba (Feb. 10) and Tusculum (Feb. 11) this weekend. The Moccasins, who are ranked No. 2 in the nation entering the season, are also the favorites to win their fourth-straight Sunshine State Conference title.
The Mocs return the vast majority of their starters from last year's national-runner up quad, including four returning all-Americans in Dani Bursinger (second team), Meghan O'Brien (first team), Emily Santoli (first team), and Meghan Vadala (first team). Santoli is also the reigning IWLCA Midfielder of the Year and Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year. All four returning all-Americans also earned first-team all-region and all-Sunshine State Conference accolades last year.
Florida Southern received five of seven first-place votes in the SSC Preseason Coaches Poll and is ranked No. 2 nationally in both the IWLCA and Nike/US Lacrosse polls. The Moccasins play their first home contest at the all-new Moccasin field on Feb. 17 against Adelphi in a rematch of the past two NCAA Championship games.
