Quaempts Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® Honors for Second-Straight Year

Greenwood, Ind. - Florida Southern College women's soccer senior defender Caitlin Quaempts was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® team announced on Thursday for the second-straight year. As a senior, Quaempts started in 12 of her 13 games played and recorded a goal and an assist as a prominent member of a Moccasin defense that shutout the opposition six times in 2019.

In the classroom, she owns a perfect 4.00 GPA while majoring in Biology and Spanish. She's been a recipient of multiple scholarships including the Christoverson scholarship, Pfeiffer scholarship, as well as a soccer scholarship. Quaempts has seen her name on the Presidents scholars list (Fall 2016 - 2017, Fall 2018 - Spring 2019), Deans List (Spring 2018) and the Sunshine State Conference Commissioners Honor Roll (Fall 2016, 2017, 2018), and is a member of Florida Southern College's Honors Program.

This season on the pitch she recorded her first points of the season in the final two games at Saint Leo and Tampa. She recorded her first goal on the season in a 2-1 loss at Saint Leo. Her only assist on the year came in a 4-0 victory at Tampa.

The Mocs finished the regular season at 5-8-2 overall, including a 2-6-2 mark in Sunshine State Conference play.

Quaempts will now finish her career having started in 46 of 56 matches played and sits in a tie for 33rd place in the record book with 13 career points.

Of the 12 selections to the Academic All-District team for District 5, six play for Sunshine State Conference teams. The Moccasins have now had at least one player selected to the all-district team in 12 of the last 13 years.

The 2019 Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
