Ashleys Lead Mocs in 3,000-Meter Run At USF Invitational

TAMPA, Fla. - Florida Southern sophomore Ashley Montano and junior Ashley Dudman led the Moccasin women's track team with top-20 finishes in the 3,000-meter race at the USF Invitational on Friday.

Montano (Colorado Springs, Colo.), who paced the Mocs in the 3,000-meter run for the second time this spring, finished 19th overall with a time of 11:32.43. She shaved over nine seconds off her time from her finish at the USF Invitational from her freshman season.

One spot behind Montano in 20th place was Dudman. The Geneva, Ill., native nearly equaled her personal record in the 3,000-meter race with a time of 11:38.99, which was 47-hundredths of a second slower than her finish the Embry-Riddle Last Chance Meet on Feb. 21. Her time was also 44 seconds better than her performance at last year's USF Invitational.

Freshman Jenna Williams (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.) and junior Rebecca Levy (Mahopac, N.Y.) earned back-to-back finishes in 34th and 35th place, respectively. Williams, in her first collegiate track race, ran the 3K in 12:33.03, while Levy followed just over five seconds later at 12:38.37.

The Moccasin women's track team will return to the USF Track & Field Stadium in Tampa, Fla. on Thursday, March 19 and Friday, March 20 to compete in the Bulls Invitational.
