The Moccasins have moved up to fifth in the latest NCAA South Region rankings released Thursday.
Sixth in the first regional poll two weeks ago, the Moccasins now trail first-place Saint Leo, second-place Tampa, third-place West Florida and fourth-place Nova Southeastern in the lastest ranking.
Behind the Moccasins are North Alabama, Eckerd, Florida Tech, Lynn and Barry. The top eight teams in the region will be selected for the South Regional, but one of the teams will be the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) champion, which receives an automatic bid. No SIAC team currently is ranked in the South Region.
The Moccasins play a pair of key Sunshine State Conference and region matches on the road this weekend, at Lynn Friday at 7 p.m. and at Barry Saturday at 4 p.m.Â Next Wednesday they play at Eckerd at 7 p.m. Their remaining two home matches are Nov. 7 against Tampa and Nov. 10 against Saint Leo, while their final regular season match is Nov. 13 at Nova Southeastern.
