Led by a 16-kill, seven-block performance from Lauren Huber, the Moccasins topped Saint Leo in four sets, 25-15, 22-25, 25-15, 25-23, in their Sunshine State Conference match at Jenkins Field House Saturday.
With the win the Moccasins improved to 10-6 overall, 5-3 in the SSC and Saint Leo dropped to 8-9, 3-5 in the SSC.
Leading two sets to one, the Moccasins trailed for almost the entire fourth set. Saint Leo scored the first four points of the set and the Moccasins didnât pull even until 21-21. After ties at 22-22 and 23-23, back-to-back Saint Leo errors gave the Moccasins the final two points to clinch the match.
Huber had just one attack error for the match and hit .517. Her seven blocks matched her career high. Diana Castrillon added 11 kills and hit .375, while Erin Callahan, who missed Friday's match with an injury, delivered 10 kills and hit .400.
Saint Leo was led by Danielle Bletso, who produced 17 kills, hit. 433 and collected three blocks.
Monday the Moccasins play a non-conference match against unbeaten and 17th-ranked Armstrong Atlantic (20-0). That match will be played at 5 p.m. at FSC's Hollis Wellness Center.
