MELBOURNE, FL - Florida Southern College volleyball's Bethany Besancenez has been named as the Sunshine State Conference Setter of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. Besancenez is the second Moccasin to earn a weekly nod from the SSC this season, and the first-ever Moc to bring home an SSC Setter of the Week honor after the conference announced the addition of the award this summer.
Besancnenez led the Moccasins to a 2-1 record in conference play last week, including a pair of 3-0 wins against Eckerd and Rollins. She averaged 10.6 assists per set across three matches, which also included an away contest at No. 4 Pam Beach Atlantic. She posted 23 assists in a 3-0 sweep of Eckerd, 40 assists during a 3-0 win at Rollins, and put up 32 assists against PBA. She also provided the Moccasins with 26 digs and two block assists

Besancenez joins teammate Nicole Mattson (Offensive Player of the Week - Sept. 4) as the two Moccasins to earn SSC weekly awards this year. Florida Southern returns to conference play on Friday at Florida Tech before traveling to Embry-Riddle on Saturday. The Mocs are 7-6 overall and 4-1 in conference action, good for a second-place tie in the SSC.
