  • Seniors Strike Fear as Mocs Volleyball Tops Tars

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Ali Travis, Annie Collins and Lena Bondar all had career nights as Florida Southern College volleyball won a five-set thriller, 3-2, over Rollins College on Senior Night at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House on Thursday evening. The Moccasins (7-19, 3-13 SSC) earned the season sweep over the Tars (8-18, 3-13 SSC) for the sixth-straight season. The match was the last home match for seniors Collins, Courtney Charneco, Buse Ene and Anica Popadic and graduate student Bondar.
  • Mocs Volleyball Falls 3-1 to Spartans

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College volleyball took a set against defending NCAA DII National Champion Tampa but fell 3-1 on Tuesday night at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (6-19, 2-13 SSC) hit well early against the Spartans (20-6, 13-2 SSC) but fell behind in the final sets. The Mocs will play the last home match of the season against Rollins on Thursday, Nov. 7 on Senior Night.
  • Volleyball Drops 3-0 Contest to Eagles

    DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball fell 3-0 to Embry-Riddle on Saturday afternoon at the ICI Center. The Moccasins (6-18, 2-12 SSC) played a close first set against the Eagles (17-3, 10-3 SSC) but could hold off the conference heavyweight. The Mocs will play the last two home matches of the season against Tampa (Tuesday, Nov. 5) and against Rollins (Thursday, Nov. 7), the latter of which will be senior night.
  • Formilan, Moccasin Volleyball Set Dig Records in Reverse Sweep of Panthers

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - Beatrice Formilan and Florida Southern College volleyball had a historic night at the Clemente Center on the digs front as the Moccasins pulled the reverse sweep against Florida Tech on Friday night, winning 3-2. The Moccasins (6-17, 2-11 SSC) recorded 122 digs the Panthers (4-20, 1-12 SSC), the second-highest single-match performance in school history. Formilan thrived with 35 digs, the sixth-most in program history for a single match. The Mocs will have another road contest on Saturday against Embry-Riddle before the last two home matches of the season against Tampa (Tuesday, Nov. 5) and Senior Night against Rollins (Thursday, Nov. 7).
  • Mocs Volleyball Falls to Lions on Throwback Night

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Rachael Martin had a career night defensively but a stingy Saint Leo defense contained Florida Southern College women’s volleyball as the Moccasins fell, 3-1, on Tuesday night at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House on Throwback Night. The Mocs (5-17, 1-11 SSC) tallied ten blocks but could not overcome an equally-intimidating Lions (17-6, 8-4 SSC) defense. The Mocs will hit the road for contests on Friday against Florida Tech and on Saturday against Embry-Riddle before the last two home matches of the season against Tampa (Tuesday, Nov. 5) and Senior Night against Rollins (Thursday, Nov. 7).
  • Charneco and Travis Shine as Moccasins Drop 3-1 Contest to Sailfish

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Courtney Charneco earned nine blocks and Ali Travis exploded offensively with 22 kills as Florida Southern College volleyball fell 3-1 to Palm Beach Atlantic on Saturday afternoon at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Fieldhouse. The Moccasins (5-16, 1-10 SSC) and the Sailfish (13-9, 5-6 SSC) combined for 34 tie scores and 25 lead changes throughout four sets as the Moccasins never lost a set by more than four points and rallied in the third set to earn a 28-26 set victory. The Mocs end their four-match homestand on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Saint Leo in a Throwback Night matchup.
  • Mocs Fall to Barry at Home

    LAKELAND, Fla. – Rachael Martin continued her offensive prowess but Florida Southern College volleyball fell to Barry, 3-0, on Friday night at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (5-15, 1-9 SSC) fought valiantly in the third set but were unable to prevent the Buccaneers (14-7, 7-3 SSC) from taking the first matchup between the two sides this season. The Mocs continue SSC play at home on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Palm Beach Atlantic and end their four-match homestand on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against Saint Leo.
  • Mocs Fall to Tritons at Home

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball had nine members record kills but were unable to overcome a hot-hitting Eckerd team as they fell, 3-0, on Tuesday night at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (5-14, 1-8 SSC) started out strong in the first set but could not stop the Tritons (14-6, 5-4 SSC) as they heated up offensively throughout the night.   • Mocs Dominate in Day Two of South Region Crossover

    HOOVER, Ala. - Florida Southern College volleyball cruised in the second day of South Region Crossover action at the Finley Center on Saturday, sweeping Christian Brothers and earning its second 3-1 victory over Lee this season. The Moccasins (5-13) earned their first sweep of 2019 with a 3-0 victory over the Buccaneers (5-16) before holding the Flames (9-13) to a sub-.100 hitting percentage performance to go undefeated for the day. The Mocs return to Lakeland for four-straight home matches in the next 10 days as they host Eckerd (Oct. 22), Barry (Oct. 25), Palm Beach Atlantic (Oct. 26) and Saint Leo (Oct. 29).   • Mocs Fall In First Match of South Region Crossover

    HOOVER, Ala. - Florida Southern College volleyball fell in its opening match of the South Region Crossover on Friday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 contest to Shorter at the Finley Center. The Moccasins (3-13) overcame a first-set Hawks (7-13) win with a second-set victory but fell in sets three and four to give the Gulf South Conference foe the match. The Mocs will look to rebound tomorrow as they take on Christian Brothers (9 a.m.) and Lee (4:45 p.m.).
  • Florida Southern Places in Top-10 Percent of Division II With Academic Success Rate of 90 Percent

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Florida Southern College athletics continues to promote student-athlete success in the classroom as the department earned a Division II Academic Success Rate (ASR) of 90 for the 2012 cohort, the NCAA released on Wednesday. The 90 percent mark is tied for the highest mark that the department has ever earned, with the previous record set during the 2010 six-year cohort. 
  • Eight Moccasins Record Kills as Volleyball Falls to Nova Southeastern

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball saw eight players record kills on Saturday afternoon at the Streamline Sale Arena, but were unable to overcome a strong defensive outing from Nova Southeastern in a 3-0 loss. The Moccasins (3-12, 1-6 SSC) recorded only five kills less than the Sharks (10-6, 3-5 SSC), but were overpowered by a 12-block outing from the away side in three sets. The Mocs will travel to Birmingham, Ala. for three matches at the South Region Crossover on Oct. 18-19.
  • Mocs Drop Close Conference Contest to Fighting Knights

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball battled fiercely against conference heavyweight Lynn University but lost a tightly-contested 3-0 match on Friday night at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. The Moccasins (3-11, 1-6 SSC) lost the match to the Fighting Knights (12-3, 5-2 SSC) by only nine points total, including a 26-24 second set and a 25-22 third set.   • Moccasins Earn First Conference Win of the Season, Defeat Tars in 100th Meeting

    WINTER PARK, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball earned its first conference win of the season on Saturday afternoon at the Warden Arena, winning 3-1 over Rollins College in the 100th meeting between the two teams. The Moccasins (3-10, 1-5 SSC) tallied 10 blocks in four sets against the Tars (4-10, 1-5 SSC) and held the home side to a .128 hitting percentage for the day. The Moccasins will be back in action next weekend at home against Lynn and Nova Southeastern.
  • Volleyball Drops Conference Contest to Tampa

    TAMPA, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball fell 3-0 to the reigning national champion University of Tampa on Tuesday night at the Martinez Center. The Moccasins (2-10, 0-5 SSC) were unable to contain a potent offensive outing from the Spartans (7-6, 3-2 SSC) that saw them hit .427 for the night. The Mocs will hit the road again on Saturday for a conference matchup against Rollins at 4 p.m.

The Moccasins (2-9, 0-4 SSC) battled but could not outhit a powerful Panther squad (2-10, 1-3 SSC). The Mocs will now hit the road for two conference matches at Tampa on Tuesday at 7 p.m. and at Rollins on Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Moccasins (2-8, 0-3 SSC) were unable to contain a potent Eagles (7-0, 3-0 SSC) offense that hit .494 for the evening. The Mocs will conclude their opening weekend of home conference action on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Florida Tech.
  • Mocs Win First Set But Fall 3-1 to Tritons

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball dropped its second conference match of the season on Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 contest to Eckerd at the McArthur Center. The Moccasins (2-7, 0-2 SSC) won the first set but were unable to stop a surge from the Tritons (8-2, 1-1 SSC) as they won three-straight sets and the match. The Mocs will have their home conference opener on Friday, Sept. 27 when they host Embry-Riddle.
  • Volleyball Falls to Saint Leo in Conference Opener

    SAINT LEO, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball fell in its conference opener on Friday night, dropping a 3-0 contest to Saint Leo at the Marion Bowman Activities Center. The Moccasins (2-6, 0-1) could not overcome strong hitting from the Lions (6-2, 1-0), with the latter finishing the night with a .418 hitting percentage. The Mocs will look to rebound on Saturday afternoon when they travel to St. Petersburg to take on Eckerd.
  • Moccasins Split Matches on Final Day of USC Aiken Invitational

    AIKEN, S.C. - Florida Southern College volleyball split a pair of matches on Saturday at the USC Aiken Convocation Center, defeating Lee, 3-1, and falling to Lander, 3-0. The Moccasins (2-5) had a strong defensive outing against the Flames (4-2), but struggled to find their footing offensively against Lander (5-1). The Moccasins will now turn their attention to the opening weekend of conference action against Saint Leo on Sept. 20 and Eckerd on Sept. 21.

    AIKEN, S.C. - Florida Southern College volleyball fell in its opening match of the USC Aiken Invitational as they lost 3-0 to the tournament host on Friday night at the USC Aiken Convocation Center. The Moccasins (1-4) battled the Pacers (5-0) in every set, dropping the first set 27-25 and the second and third sets by identical 25-21 scorelines. The Mocs will look to rebound tomorrow as they take on Lee (10 a.m.) and Lander (3 p.m.).

The Moccasins (1-3) emerged victorious over the Crimson Hawks (0-3) in a 3-2, five-set thriller in the morning before falling 3-0 to the Jennies (3-1) in the tournament finale.

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball had a tough start to the 2019 season on Friday night, as the Moccasins lost in two 3-1 contests to No. 5 Concordia-St. Paul and Hillsdale on the first day of the Terrace Hotel Classic at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House. The Mocs (0-2) faced two quality opponents in the No. 5 Golden Bears (1-1) and the Chargers (2-0), the latter of which upset Concordia-St. Paul in the first match of the tournament in a five-set thriller.
  • Volleyball Opens 2019 Campaign with Terrace Hotel Classic on Friday

    LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College volleyball team will open the 2019 season at Streamline Sale Arena at Jenkins Field House on Sept. 6 as they host No. 5 Concordia-St. Paul at 3 p.m. and Hillsdale at 7 p.m. The second day of the Terrace Hotel Classic will see two more matches for the Moccasins against Indiana (Pa.) and No. 17 Central Missouri at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m., respectively. The Mocs are entering their second year under head coach Chris Keen, who led his squad to a 22-11 record and a South Region semifinal appearance in his first year at the helm.

  • Moccasins Receive Votes in AVCA Preseason Poll

    LEXINGTON, Ky. - Florida Southern College volleyball received votes in the preseason edition of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's NCAA Division II poll, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon. The first iteration of the AVCA poll placed reigning National Champion Tampa in first, with the Spartans receiving 43 of the 46 first place votes given. Cal State San Bernandino, Western Washington, Washburn, Concordia-St. Paul round out the top five, while fellow Sunshine State Conference members Palm Beach Atlantic (No. 15), Barry (No. 16) and Saint Leo (RV) made appearances in the poll.
  • Volleyball Picked Fourth in SSC Preseason Poll

    MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference released its preseason poll on Monday afternoon, with Florida Southern College volleyball picked to finish fourth in the conference in 2019. 2018 National Champion Tampa received 98 total votes and eight first-place votes to earn the No. 1 preseason ranking, while Barry's 93 total votes and three first-place votes earned them the No. 2 nod. Palm Beach Atlantic rounded out the top three with 77 total votes received. The Moccasins sit at fourth with just six less total votes received at 71.
  • Keen Adds Eight for 2019 Season

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College volleyball head coach Chris Keen has added four transfers and four freshmen to join the Moccasins for the upcoming 2019 season. The incoming class includes student-athletes from six different states as well as two foreign nationals. Florida Southern is coming off a 22-11 record last year including an appearance in the NCAA South Region semifinal.

    LAKELAND, Fla. - Throughout the month of July, Florida Southern College Athletics will release its list of team MVPs for the 2018-19 season. Each MVP was selected by the team's head coach, and the list includes some of the top student-athletes in the country. MVPs will be revealed each weekday during the month at 10 a.m., and a list of their scheduled release dates can be found below.
