Southern Beach Volleyball Competes in Day Two of the Battle on the Bay Tournament

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - Florida Southern College beach volleyball took on Florida Gulf Coast University and Florida Atlantic University on Day Two of the Battle on the Bay tournament in St. Petersburg, Fla. The Mocs dropped both matches by a 5-0 final. Southern now owns a 3-6 record on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Florida Gulf Coast 5, Florida Southern 0

• The No. 5 pair of Kennedy Mathews and Linzy Bozeman won the first set 21-19 and then lost the second (21-15) and the third (15-12) sets.
• Southern's No. 4 pair of Kayla Trefren and Bethany Jones on the first set 22-20 before dropping the next two sets by a combined nine points.
• Kylee Whiteleather and Haley Goodrich bounced back in the second set to force a third set but were unable to claim the point.
• Celia Greco and Erica Ronda forced a third set with a victory in the second set but were unable to take the third set.

Florida Atlantic 5, Florida Southern 0

• The number four pairing was the only court to go to three sets as the other four all finish with two-set sweeps.
• The Mocs No. 4 pairing of Trefren and Jones lost the first set 22-20 and won the second set 21-19. They would fall 15-9 in the final set.

The Mocs return to action with a tri-match against Tusculum University and Lake Sumter State on March 14.
