FSC Beach Volleyball Opens Season at Palm Beach Atlantic

WEST PALM BEACH, FLA. – The Florida Southern College beach volleyball team opened the 2021 season with a pair of matches at Palm Beach Atlantic University on Saturday. The Mocs dropped both matches 5-0 to the Sailfish.

MATCH 1

• Southern fell in straight sets on all five courts.
• The Mocs No. 5 pair of Madelyn Grim and Olivia D'Agostino lost the first set 21-17 and then the second set 21-9.
• The No. 4 duo of Curry Ward and Linzy Bozeman dropped the first set 21-14 before falling 21-9 in the second set.
• Mandee Eberle and Kennedy Mathews fell 21-11 in set one and 21-16 in the second set.
• Celia Greco and Haley Goodrich almost picked up a set for the Mocs but fell 21-18 in the first set and 21-15 in the second set.
• FSC's No. 1 duo of Erica Ronda and Kayla Trefren battled but it wasn't enough as they would fall 21-17 and 21-14.

MATCH 2

• The Sailfish were all over the Mocs in the second match as FSC was able to snag just one set from the home team. The No. 2 duo of Goodrich/Greco battled in all three sets as they fell in the first set 29-27, won the second set 24-22 before dropping the final set 20-18.
• Ronda/Trefren on the No. 1 court fell 21-13 in set one and 21-12 in the second set.
• On the No. 3 court Mathews/Eberle dropped both sets by the same 21-10 score.
• Bozeman and Ward remained the Mocs No. 4 pair and lost the first set 21-8 and the second set 21-12.
• D'Agostino and Grim were the Mocs No. 5 duo and lost both sets, 21-11 and 21-13.

The Mocs will open up the home portion of their schedule as they host the University of Tampa for a pair of matches on Tuesday, March 9 at the Ruthven Beach Courts.
