LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern Beach Volleyball team split their holiday weekend doubleheader against Saint Leo and the State College of Florida. FSC narrowly lost the first game against the Lions, as Saint Leo came away with a 3-2 victory. The Mocs would go on to pick up their first win of the season as they swept the SCF Manatees, 5-0.
FSC also honored Manatee assistant coach
Kayla Dumon, who is a former member of the team as she graduated from FSC in December of 2020.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Florida Southern - 2 Saint Leo - 3
- The Mocs got off to a strong start, as the No. 2 pair of Celia Greco and Erica Ronda swept their game in straight sets.
- Saint Leo would win the next three games, as the Mocs No. 4, 5, and 1 pairs all fell to the Lions.
- FSC ended the match on a high note as the No. 3 pair of Kennedy Mathews and Linzy Bozeman picked up an individual win in three sets, giving FSC two wins in the overall match.

- The Mocs swept the Manatees for their first team win of the 2021 season as all five games went in favor of FSC.
- The No. 4 pair of Mandee Eberle and Bethany Jones got things started for FSC, winning in straight sets.
- The Mocs No. 2 pair of Ronda and Greco took their match in three sets. That pairing was the only FSC team to win both of their games in the double header.
- They were followed by another sweep, this one by the No. 5 pair of Maddie Grim and Olivia D'Agostino, securing the overall team win for FSC.
- The No. 3 pair of Kennedy Mathews and Linzy Bozeman dropped their first set to SCF, but would win the next two to defeat the Manatees.
- The last court to finish was the No. 1 pair of Haley Goodrich and Kayla Trefren who secured the sweep for FSC by winning their match in straight sets.
