LAKELAND, Fla. - Florida Southern College beach volleyball first-year head coach
Makena Wilson '20 has released the schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. The Moccasins are slated to play eight home contests this year.
"I am extremely excited about the upcoming season," stated head coach Wilson. "We are on the younger side, but thankfully we have a nice mix of returners and newcomers. We have a very challenging schedule in the spring; however, the athletes have been working really hard in the off-season on the sand and in the weight room. We are going to be ready to compete and rise to the challenge this season."
The season will open with a tri-match at Saint Leo against the Lions and Sailfish of Palm Beach Atlantic (Feb. 17) before a dual against Palm Beach State (Feb. 25), and a tri-match against Eckerd and Saint Leo on March 8 to mark the first home match of the year on Judy and Joe P. Ruthven Beach Volleyball Courts.
Florida Southern will head to Huntingdon Montgomery, Ala. to compete in the Huntingdon Beach Bash on March 10-11. The Sandy Mocs will face host Huntingdon College to open up the tournament on March 10 followed by St. Johns River Community College that afternoon. FSC will close out the Bash with a match against DI University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Jacksonville State on March 11.
FSC returns to Florida and heads to West Palm Beach for a tri-match against the Sailfish and another DI opponent match against Florida International on March 14. Sandy Mocs return to the Ruthven Beach Courts for a tri-match against Stevenson and St Johns River on March 18.
Florida Southern will hit the road again for four-straight matches as they compete at Tampa in a two-day event on March 31-April 1. The Mocs will face Saint Leo and Palm Beach Atlantic on March 31 and close out on April 1 against Erskine College and Tampa.
April 8 FSC will host Palm Beach Atlantic and Lake Sumter for a tri-match to honor the seniors of the Sandy Mocs in the final home games of the season. The Moccasins will participate in the annual AVCA Small College Championships from April 14-16 at Hickory Point in Tavares, Fla.
