Beach Volleyball Remain Undefeated; Went 4-0 In Briggs Beach Bash

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Florida Southern College beach volleyball team remains undefeated after earning two wins against Berry College and Gaston College on Saturday afternoon at the Briggs Beach Bash to finish the tournament 4-0. This is the first time in program history the Moccasins have opened the season with a 12-0 record. 
 
The Mocs (12-0) saw its toughest competition to date as it all came down to the No. 1 duo but came out victorious against the host Vikings (6-9) before handling business with the Rhinos ( earning a 5-0 win. 
 
FLORIDA SOUTHERN 3, BERRY 2
The Mocs had to work hard against the Vikings as they took Berry to two three-set wins and fell in a three-set in the No. 4 court, as it came down to Emma Winford and Ashli McKenny 17-21-17, 24-22, 15-11 against BC's Blaydes and Howell at court one. At court two, Sarah Crocker and Reagan Carlton rallied in set one with a 22-20 score and set two 21-15 to win the flight. At No. 3, Hayley St. Martin and Mary Olivia Muti fell 21-14, 21-16 against Mau and Kelyman, and Christina Ramazio and Sydney Melcher took MacDiarmid and Rudolph to three sets falling 21-15,19-21,15-11 score at #4.
 
The fifth court of Hailey Carefoot and Jackie Schner beat Mallow and Hurt also in three sets 15-21, 21-13, 15-11 in a great final court. In exhibition play, Madeline Sanders and Chloe Maxwell fell to Teagle and Kruk 24-22, 21-16. 
 
FLORIDA SOUTHERN 5, GASTON 0
In its second match of the day, the Mocs defeated the Rhinos in all sets as Winford and McKenny won 21-11, 21-10 for their second flight win of the day. St. Martin joined up with Carlton to take their opponent down 21-17, 21-14 at #2. Crocker and Muti won in two sets by a 21-16, 21-15 score as Ramazio and Melcher won 21-10, 21-7 in the fourth court.
 
The final court scored was Carefoot and Schner with a 21-9, 21-8 win to complete a sweep of the day for the Moccasins. Emma Hufford joined Sanders in exhibition action, as the duo won in dominating fashion, 21-4, 21-7. 
 
The Mocs return to action Tuesday, March 12 with a tri-match against Webber International and Eckerd College. The matches will be hosted at Eckerd and FSC will face Webber at noon and Eckerd at 4 p.m.
