TAVARES, Fla. - Florida Southern College beach volleyball entered into the third and final day of the Small College Beach Volleyball Champs as they play through the bronze bracket, taking on Eckerd College before going on to the championship match against Spring Hill College.
Florida Southern (23-10) played against Eckerd College (8-19) Sunday morning, taking a close 3-2 victory over the Tritons. They then went on to the championship match for the bronze bracket, facing off against Spring Hill(17-16), where Florida Southern took a 1-3 loss with an empty No.3 court.

Going up against the Tritons, the No.1 pair of
Ashli McKenny and
Emma Winford took the court in a 21-15, 21-16 win. Duo
Sarah Crocker and
Reagan Carlton fought a close match, taking it to the third set and emerging victorious, 21-17, 17-21, 15-13, on the No.2 court. On the No.3 flight court, we saw
Hayley St. Martin and
Mary Olivia Muti fall to the Tritons 21-17, 21-17. Duo
Christina Ramazio and
Sydney Melcher lost the first set and rallied for the second, only to fall in the third set 16-21, 21-15, 11-15. All eyes turned to No.5, where duo
Jackie Schner and
Hailey Carefoot took on their Triton opponents and took the win with a clean 21-13, 21-17 victory. The Mocs took three out of the five matches, taking the win and moving on the championship game for their bracket.
FLORIDA SOUTHERN 1, SPRING HILL 3
In the championship bout against Spring Hill College, the Sandy Mocs saw a series of intense matchups. In the first flight court, McKenny and Winford returned, playing an intense match against their Spring Hill opponents for a 23-21, 21-19 court win. In the No.2 court, we saw duo Crocker and Carlton take it to the third set before the win ultimately slipped through their fingers for a 21-19, 16-21, 7-15 loss against their opponents. Duo Ramazio and Melcher returned to play in court No.4, falling to their opponents with a final score of 13-21, 16-21. Lastly, all eyes looked to No.5, where Carefoot and Schner took it to an intense third set before Spring Hill took the lead for a 21-12, 17-21, 15-17 win over the Mocs.
Florida Southern finished second in the bronze bracket and 10th overall out of 16 teams, finishing out the season strong. Prior to action in the AVCA Small College Beach Championships, head coach
Makena Wilson '20 honored four individuals for their success this season. Senior
Sarah Crocker earned the Sandy Moc award, while other senior
Jackie Schner earned the Most Improved. Transfer junior,
Emma Winford was awarded the Newcomer award, and junior
Hayley St. Martin was recognized as the Top Teammate. Congratulations to all of the ladies on their respected awards and a historic season for the Sandy Mocs.
