PALATKA, Fla. - The Florida Southern College beach volleyball team dominated the tri-match on Saturday afternoon winning game one 5-0 over Wake Technical Community College before a 3-0 win over the host St. Johns River Community College at the John Theobold Sports Complex.
The Moccasins (17-7) added two more wins to their resume, winning all courts they competed in on the day.Â
All flights in the first watch were won in straight sets as the top flight of
Emma Winford and
Ashli McKenny won 21-4, 21-10. The next flight of
Sydney Melcher and
Nicole Eden won both their sets 21-12.Â
Isabella Muti and
Zoe Lowe won at the third flight with 21-10, 21-11 followed by a new duo of
Reagan Carlton and
Madeline Sanders winning big with a 21-9, 21-6 final score. The final flight of
Hayley St. Martin and
Mary Olivia Muti had the toughest sets, winning both 21-14 and 21-13 to go undefeated in the first match of the day.Â
In the second match for FSC, they faced the host St. Johns only competed in three flights winning all courts.Â
Winford and McKenny won the top flight 21-14, 21-9 as the second court of Melcher and Eden forced three sets. Melcher and Eden fell in the opening set 21-15 but bounced back to win the next two 21-18, 15-13. The final win for the Mocs was Muti and Lowe winning both sets 21-10, 21-14 to close the weekend going 8-0.Â
Florida Southern returns to action on Saturday, April 5 as they honor the seniors in a tri-match against Lake Sumter Community College and Palm Beach State. The first serve is scheduled for 10 a.m. with match two slated to start at 2:00 p.m.
