JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida Southern College beach volleyball (14-7) faced Jacksonville University (11-10) and Wingate on Saturday, culminating in a 0-5 defeat at the Payne Sand Volleyball Courts. All pairs engaged in intense matchups, with the exhibition match ending in a split.

JACKSONVILLE 5, FLORIDA SOUTHERN 0
In the top flight, Sydney Melcher and Ryla Bryant faced off against Megan Hair and Claire Mrukowski, with the Dolphins taking the match in straight sets, 21-14, 21-12. A three-set thriller unfolded in the 2s, where Hailey Carefoot and Sarah Idler battled Breanna McDonough and Meredith Mrukowski. Despite securing the first set 21-18, Carefoot and Idler faltered in the deciding frame, ultimately falling 14-21, 6-15 in the subsequent sets.

On Court 3, Ella Pringle and Lauren Passaglia clashed with Hayden Garnett and Kyelynn Swink. The Jacksonville pair clinched the dual in straight sets, 22-20, 21-11. In the 4s, Lily Schlageter and Victoria Rushing competed against Morgan Perry and Kate Taylor, who delivered the clincher for Jacksonville with scores of 21-17, 21-14.

The 5s saw Isabella Muti and Mary Olivia Muti take on Maddie Fiedler and Katie Martinez. The Dolphins secured the sweep with a straight-set victory, 21-12, 21-11.

WINGATE 0, FLORIDA SOUTHERN 5 
In a subsequent match, Florida Southern College (11-4) secured a decisive 5-0 victory against Wingate University (10-12) at the Payne Sand Volleyball Courts at Dolphin Beach. The Moccasins won all five matches, showcasing their strength in the competition.

At the top flight, Melcher and Bryant of FSC secured a decisive victory over the Bulldogs' Lilou Thieme and Kate Beezer, winning in straight sets, 21-12, 21-15. The pair set the pace for their team by efficiently dispatching their opponents.

In the 2s, Carefoot and Idler of Florida Southern put another point on the board with a straight-set win against Ella Harm and Naomi Hilliard of Wingate, finishing 21-13, 21-15. The duo showcased strong teamwork to maintain control throughout the match.

The No. 3 spot featured a compelling performance from Pringle and Passaglia of FSC, who overcame Wingate's Amelia Talbott and London Moultrie in a tight first set, 23-21, before closing out the second set 21-14. The match highlighted their ability to perform under pressure in a win-by-two finish.

On Court 4, Schlageter and Rushing battled through a three-set contest against the Bulldogs' Lilly DeLamielleure and Ashlyn Buck. After dropping the first set 14-21, Schlageter and Rushing rebounded to take the second 21-18 and clinched the win with a 15-11 score in the decisive third set.

The 5s also went the distance, as Sophie Harris and Aubrey Wieser of the Mocs faced Riley Key and Ragan Ball from Wingate. Harris and Wieser captured the first set 21-11, faltered in the second 17-21, but dominated the third set 15-7 to secure the final court victory.

Looking ahead, the Moccasins will host the University of Tampa on Friday, April 3, at 6 p.m. at its home venue in Tampa, Florida.
