TAMPA, Fla. — Florida Southern College beach volleyball (15-8) fell to the University of Tampa (16-9) with a final score of 0-5 at the Tampa Beach Volleyball Complex on Friday. The Moccasins were unable to secure a victory in any of their five matches.
At the top flight,
Sydney Melcher and
Ryla Bryant faced a challenging matchup against Nevaeh Wolfe and Hailey Wolfe. The pair from Florida Southern dropped the first set 21-10 before engaging in a prolonged second set that the Spartans claimed 31-29, securing the win in straight sets.
In the 2s,
Hailey Carefoot and
Sarah Idler went the distance against Tess Schrenger and Angel Williams. After dropping the first set 25-23, the Florida Southern duo pushed back with another tight 23-21 set but ultimately fell in the deciding third, 15-11.
On Court 3,
Ella Pringle and
Lauren Passaglia were unable to overcome Ka Fredette-Huffman and Hailey Peterson. Tampa took control early, winning in straight sets 21-15, 21-16.
The 4s featured
Lily Schlageter and
Victoria Rushing, who struggled against Anna Bayes and Lauren Duke. The Tampa pair dominated both sets, 21-10, 21-15.
Finally, in the No. 5 spot,
Sophie Harris and
Aubrey Wieser faced Sammie Ostrander and Jordan Berglin. The Mocs pair fell 21-12, 21-9, as Tampa completed its sweep.
Florida Southern now awaits the pairings for the Sunshine State Conference beach volleyball championships which will be held next weekend, April 10-11 at Saint Leo University.Â
