LAKELAND, Fla. — Hillsdale (1-0, 0-0 G-MAC) edged out Anderson University (0-1, 0-0 SAC) in a five-set thriller, 25-16, 11-25, 21-25, 25-20, 15-12, at Jenkins Field House on Friday afternoon. This match was part of the 2025 Jet's Pizza FSC Volleyball Classic in Lakeland, Fla.
Hillsdale took control of the first set with a decisive 25-16 victory over Anderson. The Chargers capitalized on Anderson's errors, benefiting from six attack errors and two service errors by the visitors. Caroline Lanicek and Ellie Fles each recorded multiple kills, with Fles contributing three kills in the latter half of the set. Hillsdale maintained their lead through effective blocking and consistent serves to close out the set.
In the second set, Anderson University dominated, winning 25-11. The Chargers struggled with errors, committing four attack errors and two service errors. Anderson controlled the tempo, with Sophie Deese contributing a service ace and Mikaylah Hedlund adding two more to the scoreline. Braswell paced the defensive effort with 19 digs while also adding 13 kills across five sets. Southland contributed significantly at the net, tallying 16 points and leading the team with five total blocks. TeSlaa facilitated the offense with 36 assists, showcasing her playmaking ability in all five sets. Madison Peal matched Braswell's defensive intensity, recording 18 digs to support the team's backcourt efforts.
