Shawn Ewert joined the Florida Southern men's lacrosse staff as an assistant coach prior to the 2022 season. Ewert serves as offensive coordinator.

In his first season as the leader of the offense, the Moccasins ranked seventh in NCAA Division II in points per game (24.33), eighth in assists per game (9.22), and 12^th in scoring offense (15.11). The offensive firepower continued in 2023 as Ewert’s offensive unit ranked third in all of NCAA Division II in scoring offense (17.50), fourth in points per game (27.17), sixth in scoring margin (+7.44) and 10^th in assists per game (9.67).,
 
He also helped guide 13 Moccasins to All-Sunshine State Conference honors while six went on to earn USILA All-America honors.
 
He came to Lakeland after serving as a volunteer assistant coach at Division I Bucknell University for 2020 campaign, after working as a graduate assistant coach at Division I Jacksonville University in 2019.
 
Since 2014, Ewert has coached for Resolute Lacrosse, a highly competitive club lacrosse team based out of Columbus, Ohio. He also completed summer internships with Inside Lacrosse and the Sports & Entertainment Alliance in Technology Conference as an undergraduate.
 
A standout lacrosse player at Jacksonville, Ewert ranked in the program's top five in career games started, career points and career assists. In addition, he was named the team's 2016 Offensive MVP after breaking the school record in single-season assists (23).
 
Ewert obtained his bachelor's degree in sports business, with a minor in coaching, from Jacksonville in 2018. He went on to obtain master's degrees in sports management and business administration from his alma mater in 2019.
