As a freshman (2014-2015)… SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll… Took part in seven meets during the season… One of the Moccasins’ regular swimmers in both the 100-breaststroke and 200-breaststroke, and in both of the individual medley events… Finished as the Mocs’ top swimmer in the 200-breaststroke at Florida State… Also competed in the 200-backstroke, 200-butterfly, and 200-freestyle in one meet, and twice competed in the 500-freestyle… Helped the Moccasins’ 800-freestyle relay team hit an NCAA provisional qualifying time at the SSC Championships… Also helped the 800-freestyle relay to a top five finish at the Sharks Invitational.

In high school… 2014 graduate of Gainesville High School where he swam four years for head coach Rob Ramirez… Helped lead the Hurricanes to a Class 2A state championship as a sophomore, runner-up finishes as a freshman (2A) and senior (3A), and third place as a junior (2A)… As a senior finished seventh at the FHSAA State Finals in the 100-breaststroke… Also part of Gainesville’s 2nd-place 200-medley relay and 3rd-place 200-freestyle relay teams, both of which set school records at the state meet… Also helped the 200-medley relay team finish as state runner-up in his junior year… Member of the Gator Swim Club for 10 years where he was coached by Jaime Lewis… Had top-eight finishes at the Florida Swimming Senior Championships in 2012, 2013, and 2014… Personal… Son of Eric and Kirby Basting… Has one younger sister (Paige)… Lists the Philadelphia Eagles and the Florida Gators as his favorite pro and college teams… Born May 17, 1995… Major: Sports Management.
