Florida Southern College

Lois Webb is a legendary leader in Florida Southern College athletics and a pioneer for women’s sports under Title IX. Serving as head volleyball coach from 1977 to 2001, Webb compiled a remarkable 747–272 record with a .733 winning percentage, ranking second all-time in NCAA Division II wins at the time of her retirement. Her teams earned 16 NCAA postseason appearances, won eight Sunshine State Conference championships, and achieved multiple top-five national finishes.

Beyond volleyball, Webb served as head women’s basketball coach (1977–82), founded the women’s golf program, and became FSC’s first female Director of Athletics (2001–08) after serving as interim A.D. in 2000. A long-time NCAA Senior Women’s Administrator, Webb played a pivotal role in advancing gender equity at Florida Southern.

Her honors include induction into the Sunshine State Conference Hall of Fame and the AVCA Founders Award (2002). Webb’s legacy continues to shape Florida Southern College and collegiate women’s athletics.

Lois Webb retired from coaching in 2001, leaving behind a legacy defined by excellence, advocacy, and opportunity. Her impact continues to shape Florida Southern College athletics and serves as a lasting testament to the power of leadership in advancing women’s sports at the collegiate level. Her greatest accomplishment was working as a coach and AD at Florida Southern and all the lives she made an impact on.
