CLEVELAND, Ohio - Florida Southern College finished 18th in the final 2018-19 NCAA Division II Learfield IMG College Directors' Cup standings, it was announced this week. The Moccasins made a combined 11 NCAA postseason appearances this past year, including top-10 finishes in men's golf (third), women's basketball (ninth) and women's lacrosse (ninth).
For the second year in a row, Florida Southern junior Amanda Gartrell has been named a Second Team All-American by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association. First team selections were announced at the conclusion of stroke play at the national finals on May 15, and the second team and honorable mention honorees were announced Monday night, May 20.
The Women’s Golf Coaches Association has named Florida Southern’s Amanda Gartrell to the 2019 All-South Region Women’s Golf Team, marking the second year in a row the junior from Lakeland, Florida has earned that honor. The announcement was made Monday night at the awards banquet prior to the start of the NCAA Championships.
CLEVELAND, TENN. – Florida Southern completed the NCAA Division II South Region Women’s Golf Tournament with a final-round 310 to finish in ninth place, while Amanda Gartrell had her second straight 74, but fell one stroke short of a playoff to advance to the Division II National Finals as an individual qualifier. She tied for 14th with a score of 223.
LEVELAND, TENN. – On the second day of the NCAA Division II South Region Women's Golf Tournament, Florida Southern fell four spots but the 13th-ranked Moccasins are still in the running for a spot in the national finals. The Mocs will head into the final round of the regional tournament in eighth place, needing to make up seven shots in the standings to have a chance for advancement.
Tied for Fourth, Moccasins Only Four Shots out of First on Day One of South Region Women’s Golf Tournament
CLEVELAND, TENN. – One day and one round into the NCAA Division II South Region Women’s Golf Tournament, Florida Southern is pretty much where it needs to be in order to advance to nationals. In fact, the Moccasins spent more time in the lead Monday than anyone else, and at day’s end were tied for fourth, only four shots behind first-place Florida Tech.
The NCAA Division II South Region Tournament gets underway Monday morning at Cleveland Country Club in Cleveland, Tennessee where Florida Southern is one of 12 teams competing for four spots in the Division II National Finals. Lee University is serving as host for the three-day, three-round tournament that is one of four regionals being played across the country this week. The top four teams in each of those, along with the top four individuals not with the advancing teams, will move on to the national finals in Palm Beach Gardens, May 14-18.
INDIANAPOLIS – The Florida Southern women’s golf team has been selected to compete in the 2019 NCAA Division II South Region Tournament as the No. 7 seed in Cleveland, Tennessee. The Moccasins are making their 20th appearance as a team in the NCAA Tournament, and 19th in 23 years under head coach Robbie Davis. This year’s South Region Tournament is being hosted by Lee University and will be played at Cleveland Country Club from May 6-8.
CORAL SPRINGS, FLA. – Heading into NCAA postseason play, the Florida Southern women’s golf team is ranked 13th in the April 26 Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) National Poll. Though the Moccasins slid two spots from their previous ranking they picked up 17 additional points in the poll, which is once again topped by Sunshine State Conference rival Barry.
