Biography

One of Florida Southern’s six returning All-Americans and begins her junior year with 10 certificates in her career (five as a freshman and five as a sophomore)… All 10 of her All-American awards have come on relay events, making her the only Moccasin to swim in every one of those races over the last two seasons at the Division II National Finals… School record holder in the 200-individual medley… Part of Florida Southern’s school record-holding 800-freestyle relay team, with that record set during the 2014 Division II National Finals

As a sophomore (2014-15)… Honorable Mention All-American in the 200-freestyle relay (11th place), 400-freestyle relay (11th place), 800-freestyle relay (9th placeplace), 200-medley relay (12th place), and 400-medley relay (13th place)… CSCAA Scholar All-American… NCAA Division II Academic Achievement Award winner… SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll… In addition to the relay races, also competed in the 100-freestyle and 200-IM at the National Finals… One of only four Moccasins who participated in all 10 meets, including the conference and national championships… Part of two relay wins during the season… Had three second-place finishes in the 200-IM, with one of them coming at the Nova Southeastern Sharks Invitational in a field of 30 swimmers… The only swimmer on the roster who had NCAA “B” qualifying times in three distinct events (freestyle, breaststroke, and the individual medley)… Had her “B” times in three different freestyle races (50, 100, and 200), the 100-breaststroke, and the 200-IM… Helped all five of Florida Southern’s top relay teams achieve NCAA “B” standards and was the only Moccasin to do that across the board in the relay events… Further showed her versatility by finishing second in the only 100-butterfly race where she competed in a dual meet against Emory… Set the school record in the 200-IM with a time of 2:03.77 at the Sharks Invitational (Dec. 18)… Finished the season #2 on the Florida Southern times list for the 50-freestyle, 100-freestyle, 100-breaststroke, and the 200-IM, and was third in the 200-freestyle.

As a freshman (2013-14)… All-American in the 200-freestyle relay (7th place) and the 800-freestyle relay (5th place)… Honorable Mention All-American in the 400-freestyle relay (13th place), 200-medley relay (13th place), and 400-medley relay (10th place)… Second Team All-Sunshine State Conference… CSCAA Scholar All-American… SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll… In addition to the five relay races, also competed in the 100-freestyle at the Division II National Finals… Won Sunshine State Conference championships in the 400-freestyle relay and 200-medley relay… Helped the Moccasins set a conference championship record in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:44.05… One of five Moccasins to participate in all 11 meets… Scored 43 points for the Moccasins at the conference meet, which was tied for fifth on the team with Elizabeth Fris… Posted four individual wins during the season (one in the 100-breaststroke, one in the 200-breaststroke, one in the 200-IM, and one in the 400-IM)… Had two of those wins in a dual meet vs. Florida Tech (Oct. 26)… Earned eight other wins as part of various relay teams… Had four second-place showings in the 200-IM throughout the season… Placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke in the Mocs’ dual meet with Indian River State, finishing behind only NJCAA National Champion Pati Casellas… Finished third in the 100-freestyle at the SSC Championships… Swam just two races all year in the butterfly but still held the #4 position on the Moccasins’ time list and was at #2 all the way until the SSC Championships… Ranked second on the times list in the 100-freestyle, 50-breaststroke, 200-breaststroke, the 100-IM, and the 200-IM, and third in the 100-breaststroke… Only Lauren Reynolds ranked in the top three of more individual events for the Moccasins.

In high school Graduated from Hilton Head Island High School in 2013… On the swimming team from 2007-13, competing for coach Mike Lane… Helped the Seahawks win three straight Class 3A state championships in South Carolina, covering her sophomore, junior and senior years… 3-time All-State selection… Won the individual title as a senior in the 200-IM, was second in the 100-freestyle, and helped the 400-freestyle relay team also win a state title… High point scorer for the state champions, was an All-State selection, and the team MVP… As a junior, finished second in the 200-IM and fourth in the 100-freestyle, while helping the 400-freestyle relay team take first… As a sophomore, won the 100-freestyle, was second in the 200-IM, and was part of the winning 400-freestyle relay team… Also helped the 400-freestyle relay team finish first as a freshman… High school teammates have gone on to swim at UCLA, South Carolina, and Georgia Tech… PersonalDaughter of Stephen Ley, and Andrea and Boyd McCleary… Has one older sister (Jessica), and two older brothers (Dane and Ryan)… Born May 18, 1995… Major: Nursing.
