Clay Roe joined the Florida Southern College staff in October 2021 as an Assistant Director of Athletics Communications.
Prior to the Moccasins, Roe spent two years at the Virginia Military Institute, working in the Division I athletics department. Roe began as a gameday operations assistant, where his responsibilities included operating scoreboards, time clocks, and PA announcing. In addition to gameday operations, Roe interned in the athletics communications office, where he was primarily responsible for live statistics, website maintenance, and press releases for VMI’s 14 sports. While he worked with the Keydets, Roe also worked at Washington and Lee University in the athletics department as a gameday worker.
Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Roe graduated from Southern Virginia University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology in 2017. While with the Knights, Roe competed in football and earned New Jersey Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.
While attending school and working in athletics, Roe became an Emergency Medical Technician, serving in rural and hospital settings for over five years. Eventually becoming a lieutenant, Roe oversaw vehicle maintenance, safety division, and supply management for the EMS agency. Roe continues to hold his EMT certification.
In December 2020, Roe completed a master’s in sport management administration from Liberty University. Roe also serves as an event intern for the Brand Advancement office at the University of Central Florida.
