Kensie (Green) Matthews '21 joined Florida Southern College Athletics Administration as the Compliance Coordinator in the Summer of 2025.
Matthews retruned to her collegiate alma mater after serving as the Athletic Director at her high school alma mater, Bartow High School, for two years. She oversaw 20 athletic programs including budgets and compliance while also working to secure sponsorships and donations. She implemented an academic monitoring program with mandatory tutoring sessions which increased the overall student-athlete GPA average. Prior to taking over as athletic director, Matthews served as both a teacher and coach in the Polk County School System from her graduation date at Florida Southern College until leaving that role to focus fully on athletic administration in June of 2024.
While a student-athlete at Florida Southern, Matthews spent four years as a member of the softball team. She endured the CoVID-19 pandemic along with her teammates and appeared in 103 career contests with 98 starts. She tallied 14 extra-base hits and scored 22 runs while committing just nine errors over four years in the field. She led the Moccasins in hitting percentage (.358) as a junior while also leading the squad in hits with 29. She also led the team in RBI both her junior and senior seasons. She was a three-year honoree on the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll for her work inside the classroom.
Matthews completed her degree in business administration from Florida Southern in May of 2021. She is currently pursuing a master's in sport management from the University of Florida and is expected to graduate in the Fall of 2025. She resides in Bartow, Fla. with her husband John, their son Wade, and their cur dog named Bella.
