Greg Van Emburgh was named head coach of the Moccasins on July 11, 2017, and enters his fifth season at Florida Southern. His tenure has seen academic success, as 16 Moccasins have earned ITA All-Academic status while 53 players have been named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Van Emburgh’s time at Florida Southern has seen him build a new foundation for athletic competition in men’s tennis. Under his direction, men’s tennis has earned national rankings every year at FSC, and in 2019 his squad earned a No. 30 position in the ITA Team Rankings, the highest ranking for the Moccasins since Feb. 14, 2014 when Trey Heath’s team earned a No 26 ranking. On March 20, 2019, Van Emburgh’s team earned a 4-3 win over New Jersey Tech, the first Division I opponent that the Mocs had defeated since Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 1, 2013 in an identical 4-3 scoreline.
Despite COVID-19 shortened seasons in 2020 and 2021, the Mocs continued to improve with a 12-1 record in 2020 and continued national ranking to start the 2021 season. The first full season since 2019, the 2022 season had the Mocs in the top 25 after great wins over ranked opponents, with individuals and doubles pairing with top rankings. Florida Southern made it to the 2022 SSC Tennis Championships and earned the last at-large spot in the NCAA regional tournament, their first appearance since 2016.
