Five Players Score in Double Figures to Send Mocs to 4-0

LAKELAND - With five players scoring in double figures, the Moccasins improved their record to 4-0 with a 67-47 win over Puerto Rico-Bayamon here Tuesday night at Jenkins Field House.

Chelsea Johnson led the Moccasin scoring with 18 points, as four of the five starters scored in double figures. Michaela Hawley, Nicolle DiRaimo and Tanja Speaker each had 11 points and DiRaimo also had 11 rebounds for a double-double. Megan Dzikas had another standout effort off the bench with 15 points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

After the Cowgirls jumped out to a 7-0 lead, the Moccasins reeled off 16 unanswered points and never trailed the rest of the game. FSC led 39-21 at halftime and the lead was in double digits the entire second half.

UPR-Bayamon committed 22 turnovers, which the Moccasins converted into 25 points, and FSC outrebounded the Cowgirls 47-34.

The Moccasins play Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Jenkins Field House in their final game before the Thanksgiving holiday.
