Hitting a season-best .383 as a team, the 13th-ranked Moccasins cooled off a hot Lynn team with a 25-18, 25-20, 25-18 Sunshine State Conference win at Jenkins Field House Saturday.
With Tampa beating Florida Tech in three sets, the Moccasins stay in a first-place tie with the Spartans at 11-3 in the SSC and improve to 24-7 overall. Lynn came into Saturday's match with 10 straight wins, but dropped to 22-12, 7-6 SSC.
Danielle Higginbotham led FSC's offensive surge with 16 kills and hit .467 for the match. Anna Greenwood picked up 10 kills and hit .316, while Maggie Drumm and Danielle Durham each had nine kills, with Drumm hitting .421 and Durham hitting .333.
The Moccasins limited Lynn's Camila Lins to just nine kills and a .194 hitting percentage. She came into the match ranked second in the SSC in total kills.
Wednesday the Moccasins play their final regular season road contest with a 7 p.m. match at Saint Leo and then will finish the regular season Friday night at home with a 7 p..m match against Barry. Tampa's remaining two matches are at home against Eckerd and at Lynn.
