WEST PALM BEACH - Hitting a school-record 14 three-pointers, the Moccasins cruised to their sixth straight win to start the season with an 80-57 decision at Palm Beach Atlantic here Tuesday night. Ironically, the Moccasins' previous record for three-pointers made in a game (13) came last season against Palm Beach Atlantic.
Megan Dzikas, with 18 of her game-high 20 points coming in a span of 16 minutes in the first half, connected on four of seven three-pointers. Alli Fogle scored all of her season-high 15 points on five three-pointers. Chelsea Johnson and Kirstin McIntyre each added 10 points. Nicolle DiRaimo led the Moccasins in rebounding with nine and it was her three-pointer with 1:36 remaining that set the single-game record.
The Moccasins actually trailed by nine points in the first three minutes of the game, 13-4, but a three-pointer by Fogle at the 12:00 minute mark put FSC ahead to stay 18-17. The halftime lead was 44-27 and the Moccasins enjoyed their biggest lead, 68-39, with 7:53 remaining in the contest.
Enjoying their best season start in 16 years, the Moccasins take their 6-0 record to Winter Park Saturday for their Sunshine State Conference opener against Rollins at 2 p.m.
