Playing without injured starter Danielle Durham, the Moccasins suffered their first Sunshine State Conference loss of the season Tuesday night, falling to Eckerd 16-25, 21-25, 25-16, 23-25 at St. Petersburg.
The loss drops the Moccasins' record to 12-4, 2-1 SSC. Eckerd improves to 11-6, 2-2 SSC.
Durham injured an ankle in practice Monday and did not suit up for Tuesday night's match. She is second on the team in both kills and digs.
Eckerd never trailed in winning the first two sets and the Mocs never trailed in winning the third set. In the fourth set, the Mocs rallied from a 20-14 deficit to tie it at 20-20, only to have Eckerd score three straight points and hold the lead the rest of the set.
Anna Greenwood led the Moccasins with 14 kills and hit .379 for the match, while Danielle Higginbotham added 12 kills and hit .321 and Courtney Johnson produced 11 digs.
Durham's status for this weekend's matches is uncertain. The Moccasins play Friday at Nova Southeastern at 7 p.m. and Saturday at Lynn at 4 p.m.
