LAKELAND - Emer Foley registered 19 points and 12 rebounds off the bench to help lead the Moccasins to a 75-68 Sunshine State Conference win over Eckerd Wednesday night at Jenkins Field House.
Foley, who was playing in just her fourth game this season after missing 10 games due to a back injury, was 8-13 from the field and picked up three steals in 18 minutes of playing time.
The Moccasins (11-3, 3-2 SSC) broke a 25-25 tie on a basket by Chelsea Johnson with 4:09 left in the first half and took a 37-32 lead into halftime. Eckerd battled back to take a 49-48 lead with 13:01 left on a free throw by Olivia Nagle. Foley sank a pair of free throws at the 12:25 mark to re-gain the lead for good for the Moccasins, although Eckerd trimmed the margin to one point four different times in the final 3:40.
Megan Dzikas led the Moccasins with 20 points, hitting four three-pointers. Johnson added 15, including the final six points of the game on a basket and four free throws after Eckerd (7-7, 2-3 SSC) had closed to 69-68 with 1:19 remaining.
Nagle and Ashley Lutz each scored 13 points for the Tritons, who committed 29 turnovers in the game, resulting in 27 FSC points. The Mocs were a perfect 9-9 from the free throw line.
Saturday the Moccasins entertain Flagler in a non-conference game at 5:30 p.m. at Jenkins Field House.
