Mocs Hold Off Lynn Rally, Win Streak Reaches 11 Games

BOCA RATON - The Moccasins held off a late rally to beat Lynn 76-66 here Saturday night giving FSC its 11th straight win.

The Moccasins were up 38-26 at halftime and led by 15, 54-39, with 12:44 remaining before Lynn started its comeback. The Fighting Knights got as close as 59-57 with 4:55 left before the Moccasins pulled away for the 10-point win. The Moccasins sank seven of 10 free throws in the final 55 seconds to preserve the lead. Lynn's only lead in the game came on the first basket of the game.

FSC improved to 17-4, 6-1 in the Sunshine State Conference, to remain tied for first with Rollins. Lynn fell to 13-5, 4-3 in the SSC.

Rion Rayfield led the Moccasins with 19 points off the bench and Zach Smith added 11. Rashaad Singleton contributed nine points, seven rebounds and seven blocked shots, raising his season blocked shots total to 80. He needs just 12 more blocks to tie the FSC season record of 92 set by Innocent Kere (1998-99).

Rayfield extended his string of consecutive free throws made to 24, one short of the FSC record, when he made the first of two with 1:13 left in the first half. However, he missed his second attempt to end the streak. He made his final two attempts of the game to start a new streak.

Chris Hall, the SSC's leading scorer (21.4), led Lynn with 26 points.

The Moccasins play at Nova Southeastern Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
