At the Winter Invitational hosted by Rollins Sunday at Daytona Beach, the Moccasins produced six top ten finishes in the women's competition.
Kelly Ruf placed ninth in the 50-yard freestyle (26.47) and Caroline Kennon was ninth in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.63). Recording 10th-place finishes were Malinda Turner in the 200-yard backstroke (2:27.34), Kaitlyn Smith in the 500-yard freestyle (5:42.75) and Kelsey Duncan in the 100-yard butterfly (1:06.68). The 1,500-yard freestyle relay team placed sixth (6:25.29) and the 200-yard freestyle relay team placed eighth (1:53.12). Minnesota State-Moorhead won the eight-team women's competition with 524 points. Wingate was second with 481, followed by the University of the Cumberlands with 336, Bridgeport with 296, Rollins with 151 and Catawba with 99. The Moccasins were seventh with 85 points, finishing ahead of Fairmont State, which had 24. The Moccasins return to action Saturday in the Saint Leo Invitational at 10 a.m. at the New Tampa YMCA.
