Box Score Led by Julia Borecka's 10th double-double of the season, the Moccasins snapped their eight-match losing streak with a sweep of #24 West Florida, 25-13, 25-23, 25-23, at the South Region Crossover Tournament at Tampa Saturday.
The win moved the Moccasins to within one match of getting back to the .500 mark at 11-12. West Florida, which had lost its two previous matches to Saint Leo and Tampa by 3-0 scores, fell to 13-11.
Borecka had a match-high 17 kills, hit .484 and produced 13 digs for her 10th double-double of the season. Kelly Sherman added 10 kills, .hit 350 and tallied four blocks, while Anne Pietkiewicz recorded eight kills, eight digs, three aces and four blocks.
Anna Greenwood picked up seven kills and hit .312.
Chelsea Wilhoite led West Florida with seven kills. West Florida hit just .112 for the match, while the Moccasins hit .284.
FSC led from start to finish in taking the first set. In the second set, the Moccasins rallied from a 5-0 deficit, broke a 13-13 tie to take the lead and led the rest of the set. In set three, a kill by Sherman broke a 13-13 tie and the Moccasins went ahead 23-18 only to have West Florida narrow the margin to 24-23 before a kill by Sherman closed out the match.
The Moccasins play Arkansas-Monticello at 5:45 p.m. to complete their three matches in the South Region Crossover.
