Box Score 12th-ranked Saint Leo maintained its share of the Sunshine State Conference lead with a 25-19, 21-25, 25-22, 25-12 win over the Moccasins Tuesday night at Jenkins Field House.
The win allowed Saint Leo, now 27-3 overall, 14-1 in the SSC, to keep pace with co-leader Tampa, which beat Eckerd Tuesday night. The Mocs fell to 14-17 overall, 5-10 in the SSC.
After the two teams had traded victories in the first two sets, the Moccasins had a 22-20 lead in the third set, but Saint Leo scored the last five points to claim the go-ahead set, then took control early in the fourth set to clinch the match.
Both teams had four players in double figures in kills, but Saint Leo hit .312, while the Moccasins hit .184.
Anne Pietkiewicz led FSC with 13 kills. Seniors Julia Borecka and Anna Greenwood, playing in their final home match, each had 11 kills, and Kelly Sherman added 10. Anna Niebuhr collected 16 digs and Elise Burke delivered 45 assists.
Bruna Rocha and Emily Calderon-Reyes each had 12 kills to lead Saint Leo.
The Moccasins finish their season Friday night with a 7 p.m. match at Nova Southeastern.
