Liz Broadley and Cara Potter combined for five school records in the Moccasins' double dual meet with Indian River State College and Daytona State College Friday at Ft. Pierce.ÂÂ
Indian River won 202-73 and Daytona State won 155-121. Indian River and Daytona State are two of the top junior college swimming programs in the country.
Broadley set records in the 200-yard freestyle (1:58.34), 200-yard butterfly (2:13.39) and 100-yard butterfly (1:0.02). She won the 200-yard butterfly and was second in the other two events. In addition to the school records in these three events, the freshman from Orlando also holds the school records in the 500-yard freestyle and 1000-yard freestyle.
Potter broke her own school records set earlier this season in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. She was third in the 50-yard freestyle (24.61) and second in the 100-yard freestyle (53.81), marking the fourth straight meet in which she has established a new record in the 100-yard freestyle. Potter, who swam for Indian River last season, also swam leadoff on the second-place 200-yard freestyle relay team that set a school record with a time of 1:40.40. Following Potter on the relay were Anna McIntyre, Kelly Ruf and Rae-Lynn Sheffield.
