SAVANNAH, Ga. - Led by Brandon Jenkins' 26 points, the Moccasins made it five straight wins without a loss Sunday with an 80-70 road win here Sunday over Armstrong Atlantic.
Jenkins' 26 points were three short of his career-high of 29 set last season. John Thompson added 16 points and a team-high nine rebounds, while Rion Rayfield tossed in 15 points and delivered nine assists. Jenkins was 10 of 14 from the field, including six of eight from three-point range.
The Moccasins went on an 11-3 run in the final four minutes of the first half to build a 38-29 halftime advantage and never gave up the lead in the second half. Three times the Pirates narrowed the margin to two points, but each time the Moccasins responded with a basket by Jenkins. The Pirates' last challenge came at the 4:20 mark and the Moccasins then went on a 14-3 run to put the game on ice.
The fourth-ranked Moccasins begin Sunshine State Conference action Saturday at 4 p.m. at Barry. The game will be broadcast live on the internet on SLRN.
