ST. PETERSBURG - Despite a career-high 30 points from Megan Dzikas, the Moccasins dropped a 79-70 decision to Eckerd here Wednesday night.
With the win, the Tritons moved into third place ahead of the Moccasins in the Sunshine State Conference standings. Eckerd is 8-6, 15-10 overall and FSC is 7-6, 17-7 overall.
The Moccasins are unbeaten in six SSC home games this season, but just 1-6 in SSC road games.
Dzikas scored 18 of her 30 points in the second half and gave the Moccasins their only lead of the game, 56-55, with 11:52 remaining. Eckerd responded to Dzikas' basket with a 9-0 run and never gave up the lead the rest of the game.
Olivia Nagle led the Tritons with 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Javiera Novion added 20 points and 10 rebounds.
Chelsea Johnson scored 17 points for FSC, but no one else was in double figures for the Moccasins, who played without Emer Foley. She was sidelined with a shoulder injury. She'd been averaging 12.2 points and 6.3 rebounds since returning from a back injury that forced to miss 10 games earlier this season.
The Moccasins play Lynn Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at Jenkins Field House.
