Huber's 16 Kills Leads Mocs Past Eckerd In Four Sets

Led by another strong performance from Lauren Huber, the Moccasins posted their fourth straight win Friday night, downing Eckerd in four sets, 25-17 20-25, 25-23, 25-19, in their Sunshine State Conference match at St. Petersburg.

Huber delivered 16 kills, hit .500 for the match and added five blocks. It was the fifth straight match in which she has hit over .400 and raised her season hitting percentage to.378 and her team-best blocks total to 54.

Diana Castrillon, Anne Pietkiewicz and Kelly Sherman each collected 10 kills, as the Moccasins improved their record to 13-4, 6-2 in the SSC. Anna Niebuhr led the defensive effort with a season-high 27 digs.

Lindsay Biggs led Eckerd (5-11, 0-7 SSC) with 19 kills.

After splitting the first two sets, the Moccasins broke a 23-23 tie in the third set on kills by Natalie Arvizu and Sherman. Huber's kill broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth set and the Moccasins led the rest of the way.

The win put the Moccasins in a tie for second in the SSC with Barry, which dropped a five-set match at home to first-place Tampa Friday night.

The Moccasins step away from SSC action with their next match Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Flagler.
