Three Moccasins Named to Womenâ?' Soccer Academic All-District Team

Box Score

A school-record three players were named to the Academic All-District team announced on Tuesday, which included repeat selection Ashlie Haas. Making it for the first time were Kristen Vollmer and Hanna Jansson. It's the fourth year in a row Florida Southern has had at least one player on the Academic All-District team, which is comprised of players from NCAA Division II and III, as well as the NAIA level. To be considered, student-athletes must maintain a 3.30 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key reserve.

Haas is only the second Moccasin to make the team twice, joining Mindy Dymon, who did so in 2003 and 2004. A senior defender from Rockledge, Florida, Haas has started all but three games in her college career at center back, and helped the Moccasins record 26 shutouts over the last four seasons. She's also scored five goals with three assists in her career, has twice been named the Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player-of-the-Week (including once this year), and was Second Team All-SSC in 2008. She currently owns a 3.43 GPA in biology.

Vollmer is another senior defender for the Moccasins, who has been starting at outside back since transferring from Polk Community College in 2008. She's been a part of 19 shutouts in her career, and this year has helped Florida Southern post a 1.16 goals against average that is currently the second lowest in team history. Vollmer was named the SSC Defensive Player-of-the-Week in 2009 after helping the Mocs to shutout wins over Tampa and Lynn, and has helped out the offense with seven career assists. The Zephyrhills native has a 3.75 GPA in nursing.

Another first-time member of the Academic All-District team is Jansson, who has been one Florida Southern's top reserves for much of her career, though she's also started 13 games. In 2009, she was the Moccasins' top scorer off the bench, totaling four goals and two assists for 10 points. The junior midfielder/forward from Vasteras, Sweden is majoring in economics and carries a 3.90 GPA.
