Box Score Barry's Julia Teixeira and Ady Alcantara combined for 36 kills to lead the Buccaneers to a 25-19, 25-15, 25-21 Sunshine State Conference win over the Moccasins Saturday at Miami Shores.
The win allowed Barry (15-5, 10-4 SSC) to stay in front of the Moccasins (19-8, 9-5 SSC) in the SSC standings behind Tampa and Lynn.
Lauren Huber led FSC with seven kills. Anne Pietkiewicz and Ashley Martin each had six.
Teixeira, who ranks second in the SSC in kills, had nine in Barry's first-set victory, and finished the match with 20 and hit .410 for the match. Alcantara added 16 kills.
The Buccaneers pulled away from a 14-12 advantage in the second set when Milena Bukinac served five straight aces to put the set out of reach. The Mocs tried to come back in the third set and were leading 18-15 before Barry went on a 10-3 run to close out the match.
The Moccasins play Rollins Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Jenkins Field House in their next-to-last match of the regular season. They will finish the regular season next Saturday at 4 p.m. against Eckerd.
