BOCA RATON - Rion Rayfield's basket with 5.1 seconds left brought the 16th-ranked Moccasins back from a 13-point deficit in the second half to claim a 75-74 road victory here at Lynn Saturday night.
The Moccasins trailed 65-52 with 10:18 left and were still down 68-58 with 6:19 remaining. Rayfield hit a pair of free throws with 0:55 seconds left to narrow the Lynn lead to 74-73. Terry Jenkins made a key steal for the Moccasins with 23 seconds to go to give the Moccasins a chance and Rayfield delivered the game-winner. Lynn's Chris Hall had a desperation shot just before the final buzzer that was off the mark.
The win improved the Moccasins' record to 21-3, 10-3 in the Sunshine State Conference. Lynn dropped to 13-11, 7-6 in the SSC.
Rayfield finished with 24 points. John Thompson added 21 and Terry Jenkins tossed in 14. Hall led Lynn with 21.
The Moccasins get a chance to avenge one of their three defeats Wednesday when they take on Saint Leo at 7:30 p.m. at Jenkins Field House. Saint Leo beat the Moccasins 91-79 Jan. 13 at Saint Leo.
