North Alabama handed the Moccasins their first loss of the season Friday night, winning a five-set match, 25-17, 21-25, 25-20, 17-25, 15-13, at the Armstrong Atlantic Classic in Savannah, Ga.

After winning the fourth set 25-17 to even the match at two sets apiece, the Moccasins had taken a 10-7 in the fifth set on a kill by Anne Pietkiewicz, only to have North Alabama score the next four points to move ahead 11-10. The loss was FSC's first in six matches this season. North Alabama is 3-2.

Natalie Arvizu was the Moccasins' offensive leader with 11 kills, while Ashley Martin and Kelly Sherman each added nine kills.

Led by a career-high 14 kills from Elena Sorich, the Moccasins won their first match Friday, cruising past West Georgia in three sets, 25-15, 25-16, 25-15.

Sorich posted two kills in the opening set and six in each of the next two. West Georgia fell to 2-4.

The Moccasins never trailed in sets one and three and took the lead for good at 14-13 in set two, taking just over an hour to complete the match.
