Box Score With five players registering double figures in kills, the Moccasins shook off a first-set loss to top Florida Tech, 24-26, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22, Wednesday night in the Sunshine State Conference opener for both teams at Jenkins Field House.
The win boosts the Moccasins' overall record to 8-1, while the Panthers fall to 5-4.
Florida Tech rallied from a 20-13 deficit to take the first set, but the Moccasins' balanced offensive attack prevailed over the next three sets and FSC claimed the match.
Ashley Martin had a team-high 13 kills for the Moccasins. Elena Sorich, Lauren Huber and Anne Pietkiewicz each posted a dozen kills, while Natalie Arvizu tacked on 10 kills off the bench. Sorich also had 10 digs to notch her first-ever career double-double.
Anna Niebuhr led the defensive effort with 18 digs and Ali Skayhan picked up 11 digs to go with her team-best 34 assists.
The Moccasins hit .261 for the match and limited Florida Tech to a .147 hitting percentage.
Saturday, the Moccasins are back in action at Jenkins Field House with a 4 p.m. match against Lynn.
