Mocs Coast To Easy Road Win At Barry

The Moccasins grabbed an early lead and coasted to a 65-53 Sunshine State Conference road win over Barry Saturday at Miami Shores.

With the scored tied 8-8, the Moccasins went on an 11-0 run to build a 19-8 advantage and Barry never got closer than nine points the rest of the game.  After leading 31-14 at halftime, the Moccasins built their biggest lead of 26 points, 56-30, with 9:00 left in the game.

Chelsea Johnson's 14 points led a balanced scoring attack that had five players score in double figures.  Emma Cannon scored 12 points, Michaela Hawley had 11 and Megan Dzikas and Taylor Maldonado each had 10.  It's the sixth time this season that Maldonado has scored in double figures coming off the bench.  Nadia Tijani led Barry with 12 points.  Johnson raised her career point total to 1,702 points, making her just the fifth player in FSC women's basketball history to surpass 1,700 career points.

The win was FSC's third straight in the SSC without a loss and boosted their season record to 10-2.  Barry fell to 7-6, 0-4 in the SSC.

The Moccasins entertain Eckerd Wednesday night at 5:30 at Jenkins Field House.
