Box Score The West Florida team the Moccasins faced Thursday night in Pensacola was much improved from the team the Mocs had beaten in four sets a little over a month ago in Denver.
The Argonauts (13-7) won for the 11th time in 12 matches since that loss, downing the Moccasins, 25-19, 25-11, 25-21. It was UWF's 10th straight win.
An early 12-7 lead by the Moccasins (10-8) in the first set didn't hold up. West Florida broke a 17-17 tie to take the lead and with a 20-18 advantage, scored five of the last six points to take the set. After West Florida took a two-set lead, the Mocs kept the third set close until the Argonauts pulled away for a four-point decision to clinch the match.
Lauren Huber, Diana Castrillon and Anne Pietkiewicz each had six kills for the Moccasins.
Lindsey Homme led West Florida with 12 kills and four other players each had eight kills in the match.
The Moccasins play Christian Brothers at 11:30 a.m. (CT) and Alabama-Huntsville at 4:30 p.m. (CT) Friday to complete their three matches at the South Region Crossover.
